From the very first day to the very last, I would characterize this summer in Israel as unpredictable and emotional. I have to say that there were many times that felt like I was inside a dryer tumbling around and waiting for the summer's cycle to stop.
What I experienced was moving from an apartment we adore and needed to sell (and crying for a full week straight as a result - big, sloppy cries); caring for sick family members who needed our love and immediate attention (and are now ok); a realization that I have lost my social media voice and I don't know how to get it back; another realization that if I don't announce myself and my talents, no one else will and then others don't benefit from me being in service to them; and with all that, going on, we were unable to see many of the people we love and look forward to seeing every year. And, now we are back in Hoboken, preparing child #2 for her first year of college and child #1 for her senior year of college.
After about a week or so of wandering around like a lost soul and dealing with levels of anxiety I don't usually deal with anymore, I decided that I didn't want to look back on this summer as a total disaster. I asked myself an open question, "What can you do to be with what is and still have a great time?" Being with "what is" and open questions are truly precious gifts I learned through coach training. It was from truly allowing myself to be with my emotions that I began to recover and see possibility. The truth is that I am having a topsy, turvy, emotional summer. And, I am choosing to hold the perspective that is has also been full of adventure and new beginnings.
What perspective will you choose in the face of transition and change?
Growth Above & Beyond
The view from my window in Tel Aviv has been one of my very favorites since the moment I walked in to the apartment before we bought it. When I think about the last year as a professional coach, I feel like my beloved tree, soaring above the surroundings and seeing clearly in all directions. My year in coaching was a slam dunk in the very same way. I set my sights on a business with both private coaching and in-house opportunities, and don't ya know it, that's exactly what I got. Just to give you an idea of what I've been up to, here is a list of "did you know that I..."
am an adjunct professor at Bloomfield College offering a first-year seminar to incoming freshman for the second year in a row.
am a Mentor Coach and Assessor to 100s of ADAPT Health Coaches in Training for Chris Kresser and the Kresser Institute of Function Health.
am now a certified Health and Wellness Coach by the National Board of Health and Wellness Coaches
am a Professional Coach and Coach Ambassador for Sayge, powerful one-to-one coaching company for all employees below the C-Suite.
am a certified Self Defense Instructor in the Jane Jitsu Methodology and trained by PREPARE in NYC
What I learned from all of this is that I LOVE coaching. As my clients learn and grow so do I. Living my life from this perspective of possibility and being with what is has granted me the joy of presence and self reflection. I am just beginning to formulate the coming year and I can't wait to see what rises to the top as my next step of my great adventure.
